Connect DenkOps to Gemini

Gemini supports remote MCP servers as custom apps, and Gemini CLI reads them from its settings. Both use the same DenkOps URL and the same Google or GitHub sign-in.

Steps

  1. In the Gemini app, add a custom app (connected apps) with the MCP server URL https://denkops.com/mcp. Use a personal Google account; work accounts may not be able to link custom apps.
  2. Complete the DenkOps sign-in, pick a workspace and allow access.
  3. For Gemini CLI, add to ~/.gemini/settings.json: { "mcpServers": { "denkops": { "httpUrl": "https://denkops.com/mcp" } } } and run /mcp auth denkops.
  4. Ask: "what's running on DenkOps?"

Troubleshooting

  • "Account linking is required to use this custom app" — Gemini's generic message when linking didn't finish. Remove the app and add it again; make sure you use a personal Google account.
  • Linked, but tools missing — open the app's settings in Gemini and sync its tools.

FAQ

Do I have to sign in to DenkOps with Google when I use Gemini?

No. Gemini handles the connection; on the DenkOps sign-in page you can still choose Google or GitHub.

Does the Gemini link expire?

No. DenkOps issues Gemini a long-lived, revocable refresh token, so the link stays until you remove it or revoke it in DenkOps.
