Connect · other MCP clients

DenkOps follows the open MCP specification, so any client that supports remote (HTTP) MCP servers with OAuth can use it: VS Code, Windsurf, OpenAI Codex, Zed and more.

Steps

  1. Add a remote / HTTP MCP server with the URL https://denkops.com/mcp (for VS Code, .vscode/mcp.json: { "servers": { "denkops": { "type": "http", "url": "https://denkops.com/mcp" } } }).
  2. Start the server; the client opens the DenkOps sign-in in your browser.
  3. Sign in with Google or GitHub, pick a workspace and allow access.

Technical details

  • Transport: Streamable HTTP; protocol 2026-07-28 and the 2025 revisions.
  • Auth: OAuth 2.1 with PKCE (S256), dynamic client registration and client ID metadata documents; issuer https://connect.denkops.com.
  • Discovery: https://denkops.com/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp.
  • Sign in when needed: connecting, listing tools and the build guide work before sign-in; actions on your account return a 401 that starts sign-in.

FAQ

Can I use an API key instead of OAuth?

The connector uses OAuth so every person signs in as themselves. For CI and scripts, create a scoped connection token in DenkOps and use the CLI or the npm MCP.
